first_imgCancun, Q.R. — The State Attorney’s Office has confirmed that the criminal complaints filed against former Playa del Carmen mayor, Mauricio Góngora Escalante, have been connected which has resulted in preventative detention.Efforts through the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office against Corruption have succeeded in obtaining a trial against the former mayor who will be tried for irregular performance of the public function.The initial hearing began at 2:00 p.m. Saturday and lasted for more than nine hours, which resulted in the judge issuing preventative detention for precautionary measures.
